A Royal Museum is a former name of crown jewels and royal regalia’s exhibition a Sahataisamakhom Pavilion in a Royal Palace, Which was established during the reign of King Rama VIII, in order to offer civilians an opportunity to see the Royal art’s finest masterpieces. Nowadays, such exhibition has been renovated into a display of Royal Regalia at Rajaissariyoj Pavilion, having Royal regalia, insignia and Coins inside the Palace instead of the museum. The revival of the Royal Museum aims to maximize the potential of multiplying numbers of historical antiques during the conservation process, and to develop the quality of displays in a museum to reach an international standard, becoming a national leading attraction.

The architecture is a large building composes of multipurpose spaces for temporary exhibitions, museums and learning. The site is located in the area of Territorial Defense Command on Sanamchai Road, which has 3 conserved buildings, which are Rachawanrop Building, the clock tower and the drum tower.

The Royal Museum has been designed to have 5 floors, 3 above the ground level and 2 under. The ground level comprises of front building and the main building. The front building has the entrance hall, 420-seat-auditorium and offices, which is underground 2-storey-building. The main building consists of permanent exhibition, temporary exhibition and public area (Grande hall). The building was designed in Thai – Contemporary style which are simplify of Grand Palace’s Thai architecture and symbolize the monarchy.
